R-Eleven
Round 11 of The Third Creation, 2003. A plasma with a VU meter, a video sequence, a rotozoom and a couple of scenes — and a demo I was frank about disliking.
The readme puts it plainly: I’m not totally happy with this prod. Plasma+Vumeter then Video fits very well to the music, but the other effects are just skinning and filling. DEMO IS ART. It’s very hard to get something enjoyable.
The video is footage of Bordeaux, the city I was living in at the time, decoded frame by frame from a JPEG sequence through a reader I ported myself, alongside an XM player. The music is P-rat/Haujobb’s, and the readme admits the rip in as many words. The PCM manager came from Sjeep.
Two technical notes stand out. The screen init was finally fixed, so this one runs on NTSC as well as PAL — the fault that had spoiled Bunny Tetris. And it came in at 0.99 MB: the 1024 Kb limit is respected this time!
Greetings to my own group, Med and Jylam, with a promise that the next demo would use a Med tune; to the ps2dev regulars — Napalm, SG2, LongChair, Oobles, Pukko, Sjeep, Adresd, Nippy, Dreamtime, blackdroid, MrBrown, Tyranid, wiRe; and to the PCSX2 team, whose emulator I was watching closely.
Adresd and Nippy entered the same round.

Interesting. So far I only knew this track from Bewahren sie ruhe. Nice to see some other visuals to it. But I prefer the original. This one isn’t bad as well, but it’s also nothing special.
