Bunny Tetris

Round 10 of The Third Creation, February 2003, and not a demo at all: a game. Pad left and right to move the falling block, down to drop it, up to rotate it. My own best was 3117 points at level 8.

The design is a cheerful, wholesale theft, and the in-game text says so in capitals: I ripped the graphics from Made/Bomb, because I had always wanted to make something that looked like that. The tunes are YM songs pulled off Amstrad CPC discs and played back as MP3 through SG2’s InPulSe player, which will only take 48 kHz files with no ID3 tag. The pad manager came from Pukko.

Underneath it all, jfyeNG once more, though this time — as I pointed out to Adresd in the readme — only the system code, and not a single LightWave import.

It shipped broken on NTSC machines. The readme apologises to The Third Creation for it and promises a fix within days; the fix arrived in the next production, R-Eleven. Thanks went to everyone who sent bug reports, and to the authors of PCSX2.

Six entries went into round 10 — Adresd, wiRe, blackdroid, Nippy and Tyranid all had one — the busiest round I ever took part in.

Left alone, the game plays a round on its own.

The marquee caught mid-thank-you to the authors of PCSX2 — fitting, for a game captured through an emulator.
